Dave’s career since 1994 has been focused on the implementation, operation, and integration of ISO 9001and ISO 14000 management systems. Companies from all over North America have benchmarked these systems. More and more Dave’s expertise is sought after and he markets his consulting services directly or through various companies including Northwest Training and Development.
Dave chose to leave his position as Quality Assurance Coordinator at Bowater Canadian Forest Products Ltd. Thunder Bay Mill Operations at the end of 2006 with a deferred pension. He is particularly proud that he has earned a life long membership in the Communication, Energy and Paperworkers’ Union. This departure is an opportunity to market his progressive abilities to organizations looking for success.
Dave has built a solid reputation for success, which include being chosen as a member of the Canadian delegation to NAFTA for the Commission for Environmental Cooperation in 1999 in Washington, DC and often acts as a guest lecturer, panelist for various organizations including the CSA International. He has contributed to and written a number of articles on workforce development, system design, quality and environmental management systems.
Dave demonstrates his commitment to the future and quality of his community by volunteering with a number of community based organizations. He is currently serving as a Director of the North Superior Training Board, the Chair of the Quality Management Committee for the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Chair of the Regional Career Fair, Board Champion for the Regional Skills Competition, the Board Champion on the Passport to Prosperity Program (youth to work, business / education committee) and an Executive member of the Youth Advisory Committee (Youth Week).
Leading by example, contributing to strong organization models for success in the profit and not-for-profit sector and developing people through work time pursuits are why when someone needs someone to lead the charge to make something happen, Dave is at the top of the list. The impossible just takes a little longer. Dave continually takes courses and researches change management techniques. We can compete globally and retain our standard of living. It is only a matter giving each employee the tools to maximize productivity and job satisfaction.
