NSWPB Role in Your Community
Integrated Local Labour Market Plan
The North Superior Workforce Planning Board was selected as one of seven demonstration pilot sites for the implementation of a new approach to labour market planning that will benefit individuals, employers and communities within the District of Thunder Bay. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, this new approach, known as Integrated Local Labour Market Planning (ILLMP), supports the goals of Employment Ontario and will ensure service delivery integration that is responsive to our diverse regional and local needs.
ILLMP is a process of community development that identifies, assesses and prioritizes the skills and knowledge needs of customers - the community, employers and individual participants and learners - in the local labour market. The results of this process have been translated into an approved local labour market plan released on August 27, 2009, entitled "Building a Superior Workforce: 2009-2012 Labour Market Action Plan".

Trends, Opportunities and Priorities (T.O.P.) Report
The T.O.P. Report is the result of a community driven consultation process which replaced the Environmental Scan and the Local Area Plan. Local Boards are required to involve community stakeholders in a consultation and planning process that will promote a greater understanding of the trends, opportunities and priorities in their local communities relating to labour force and labour market issues and needs. The Board then undertakes initiatives and action plans to resolve specific issues and meet identified needs.
