The North Superior Workforce Planning Board (NSWPB) is reimagining program and service delivery for the Thunder Bay District in order for us, and our community partners to meet our mission and mandate by moving collaboration, consultation, and engagement events online via exciting digital platforms. NSWPB is seeking a Digital Platform Specialist for a 12-month contract to assist staff and community partners in navigating technological tools and adapting programming for digital delivery.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Virtually convene with the NSWPB Staff and Workforce Recovery Team (WRT) members to conduct custom needs assessments to determine members’ gaps, challenges, and opportunities in utilizing new technology;
  • Gain an expert understanding of platforms best suited to respond to the needs assessments, make recommendations, and assist with acquiring/licensing/installing the programming if necessary;
  • Onboard partners to new platforms, conduct organizational training and troubleshooting sessions, and provide customized insights to ensure members get the most of their platforms;
  • Facilitate digitization of program materials including, but not limited to presentations, marketing materials, workshop activities, etc.;
  • Facilitate knowledge mobilization by developing learning resources and delivering training for digital platforms on an ongoing basis over the term of employment. Resources will be made available to WRT members to aid in continuous self-learning. Deliver further training as needed due to evolution in technology and/or organizational needs;
  • Build NSWPB’s capacity by providing training and ongoing troubleshooting on digital platforms;
  • Build organizations’ capacity to participate in digital events by helping develop materials required to participate in digital conferences, events, job-fairs, etc.;
  • Create new opportunities to work with remote communities by expanding digital program delivery and reducing the need for travel to participate;
  • Develop a workplan to ensure project goals reach successful completion;
  • Conduct evaluation of services to gain feedback on whether the participating agencies gained the capacity to meet their mandates during and after COVID-19 by utilizing new platforms;
  • Work independently, exercising good judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills throughout the completion of all job responsibilities; 
  • Promote effectively the North Superior Workforce Planning Board’s mission and vision within the workplace, client base, and broader community;
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Communications, Digital Media, or related field of study;
  • 2 – 3 years of relevant professional experience preferred;
  • Experience in teaching as well as facilitation of training an asset;
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities an asset;
  • Highly motivated self-starter;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage internal and client expectations, sometimes with minimal supervision;
  • Adapts well to changes overall but particularly in area of timelines and priorities within project;
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service, and conducting effective community outreach;
  • High-level proficiency in digital communication platforms and MS Office applications;
  • Excellent critical thinking, writing and interpersonal communication skills required;
  • Strong preference will be given to bilingual candidates.
